Shaping the future: Our strategy for research and innovation in humanitarian response.
The Pragya team is delighted to receive the HIF Small Grant. We have been working with the indigenous Himalayan communities to reduce the vulnerability of populations to environmental threats. Our efforts so far have been concentrated on vulnerability assessment studies and developing community capacity for livelihood adaptation to increasing climatic volatility.
The HIF Small Grant would kick-start our endeavors in the domain of DRR through community preparedness by helping us design a decentralised system for early warning and post-disaster damage & need assessment and communication adapted to the Himalayan socio-ecology and infrastructural gaps. We are looking forward to the processes in the coming months of shaping the innovation and disseminating it, and our interactions with various state/ non-state agencies & communities in the local area, to elicit inputs and generate their buy-in, as well as with other HIF grantees to share our learning and experiences.
