We are delighted to announce that we have joined the Call to Action on Protection from Gender-based violence in Emergencies – a multi-stakeholder initiative to fundamentally transform the way gender-based violence (GBV) is addressed in humanitarian action.

We welcome the launch of their 2016-2020 Road Map – an operational framework established to ensure that pledges are translated into concrete and targeted actions on the ground. It is focused on the systemic changes that must be made in policy and practice to transform humanitarian response to GBV.

As a Call to Action partner, we have made the following commitments and will report on our progress annually to:

  • Continue to build the global evidence base to define effective GBV prevention and response interventions in humanitarian settings.
  • Proactively promote effective local leadership of and robust engagement in assessment, planning, implementation, and monitoring of GBV and gender equality interventions.

To date, through our own GBV initiative, we’ve supported a portfolio of high-value projects looking at generating new perspectives and insights for tackling GBV challenges in emergencies, and produced the first ever Gap Analysis of specific challenges in Gender Based Violence (GBV) humanitarian programming through the lens of humanitarian innovation.
