After a successful pilot phase in 2010-2012, Phase 2 of the project began in 2013 with support from the French Development Agency. The aim of phase 2 is to allow Sigmah to be taken to scale. Support from the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF) was requested to develop our communication strategy, with the aim of increasing the number of adoptions by European NGOs.

A large number of communication activities have been organised through the project’s European network of members and partners: the launch of the new version in Brussels, participation at the meeting of ECHO partners, Sigmah training courses in Berlin and Geneva, the development of new communication tools, etc.

These different events allowed us to make contact with more than 50 new organisations in Europe. Of these, 15 are currently looking into the possibility of adopting the software, and 3 new NGOs have begun the adoption pilot phase: Vétérinaires Sans Frontières in Germany, CARE Netherlands and the Luxemburg Red Cross. As a result Sigmah is now being used in numerous countries in Europe and the world (in the Horn of Africa, West Africa, Asia and America). Other adoptions are likely to be confirmed in autumn by organisations in France and Germany.

Map of Sigmah's reach to date

Though the partnership with the HIF has recently come to an end, Phase 2 and the scaling up of Sigmah is due to continue until 2017. We will return to this blog at the end of Phase 2 to share the findings of the end of project evaluation.
